The services offered by NLHP encompass the full spectrum of Chinese medical modalities. Although acupuncture is the most well known and commonly used of those modalities, we provide most modalities used in Chinese medicine to improve the patients’ health. In addition to these, we also provide services that are not commonly offered by others. These include communication between other healthcare providers, and services such as biomedical physical exam. New Life Health Partners (NLHP) feels that it is our responsibility to provide the patient with whatever is best for them to heal. In some cases that means referring patients to other professionals. When such is the case, we will provide referrals to the most competent professionals as part of our high level of service.

Acupuncture
For centuries now Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been, and continues to be, an important form of medical care in the Far East, China, Japan and Korea. Eastern thinking traditions, philosophy, and the medicine have evolved together. For thousands of years, up until the 20th century, this traditional medicine has been the sole method of healthcare for millions of people. The benefits of this great medical system are a vibrant, thriving, and balanced physical, mental, and spiritual life free from disease and discomfort.
In the Western world, where acupuncture is of growing importance, the concept that mind, body and environment interact very closely is now widely accepted. Acupuncture is based on the concept of proper balance amongst the varied and complex functions of the body. When all the body’s functions are operating harmoniously, there is good health. To put it simply, disease reflects disorder of the natural balance. In cases in which the body is not capable of restoring the balance by itself, TCM can offer help. The goal of TCM is to encourage harmony amongst the body’s functions through the direct manipulation of the body with acupuncture and moxibustion, or the use of complex herbal formulas.
At NLHP, the practitioners have slighlty different styles of acupuncture. You are able to choose the practitioner with the style of acupuncture that you prefer. Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbs have been used for thousands of years to maintain health and treat disease. Since 100 B.C., Chinese physicians made careful written records of their successes and failures, passing their experience on to future generations. Thus, the emperor’s medical libraries contained over 10,000 volumes even before the modern era began.
To this great body of traditional wisdom has been added almost a century of modern research on the pharmacology of thousands of herbs and the treatment of every imaginable disease. The modern research has confirmed what the Chinese have known for millennia: Chinese herbs are safe and effective for many chronic and acute illnesses.
So effective that millions of Chinese, Japanese and Koreans still rely heavily on this herbal therapy, despite having free access to a wide range of modern medical care. In fact, in Japan, 75% of MD’s regularly prescribe Chinese herbs and over 200 formulae are covered by their national health insurance. The use of Chinese herbal medicine may be an overlooked factor in the extreme longevity of the modern Japanese.
At NLHP we can encapsulate your herbal formulas. The benefit of this is that taking your herbs will be easier and more convenient, and you will avoid the often unpleasant taste of the formulas.
Pediatric Care with Shoni Shin
Children as young as one month old can be effectively treated with a non-needle acupuncture technique called Shoni Shin. This Japanese method originated several hundred years ago in Southwest Japan and consists of light tapping or rubbing at specific points along the acupuncture meridians. Because children are quite sensitive to change and have a lot of energy, Shoni Shin is extremely effective at restoring their health. The treatment is administered quickly, usually within 15-20 minutes, and is most effective when given several times per week until the symptoms are alleviated. After the initial problem is resolved, treatments can continue as maintenance once per month or as needed. We often teach parents massage sets to do with their child to help the child to flourish.
Other methods of treating children which do not involve needles include the use of magnets, light electrical stimulation, and cupping.
As children get older they can be treated with acupuncture, or continue to be treated with Shoni Shin. It all depends on the comfort level of the child. Furthermore, herbal medicine can be given to children as young as a few months.
Yoga
Yoga is an ancient discipline which has evolved over thousands of years. The practice of Hatha Yoga (physical postures) brings about improvements in strength, flexibility, and balance. This results in better posture, improved circulation and concentration, stress reduction, and a sense of well being.
Iyengar Yoga has a strong focus on therapeutics. There are a multitude of benefits, such as keeping the spine aligned, improving posture, and healing various ailments in the body including low back, neck, and hip pain. Yoga can also calm the nervous system, regulate hormones, and improve circulation. |
